Steve Loe is the owner of the Local Business Awards that we have been photographing for a few years now. Steve is a lover of Broadway musicals, so to celebrate his 60th birthday Steve decided to host a Broadway themed party.
Over the 30+ years of running the Local Business Awards, Steve has provided work for many entertainers in his awards shows. So he put the word out to those performers to do a couple of numbers at this birthday bash.
The response was great and performers on the night ranged from eighteen year old Alex Marcel who Steve discovered busking in Pitt St Mall through to seasoned music theatre and cabaret performers Meredith O’Reilly, Rob Johnson, Monique Montez, Tim Maddren, Evelyn Duprai, Di Solomon, Suzy Ray and Dexter Villahermosa along with TV performers Hayley Jensen and Harrison Craig (The Voice).
The production was guided by Edward Wightman (Director), Andrew Yoole (Writer and designer), David Thomas (Production Manager) and Todd Dewberry (Stage Manager).
It was our pleasure to provide The Red Carpet Experience for the Steve to welcome his guests in front of a red velvet curtain where they were captured by Cristiana, one of our regular Local Business Awards photographers.
Congratulations and thanks Steve – it was a great night.

The Ultimate Selfie studio was in Brisbane this month for the Ramsay Health Managers Conference dinner and then the opening night of theItalian Film Festival at Palace Cinemas
We had not heard of Dan TDM until we were asked to photograph him in back in January and it was an absolute delight to work with him again for Meet & Greet events in Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney.
More my era is Glenn Hughes, former bass player with Deep Purple, who did a Meet & Greet in Melbourne.
The Local Business Awards also kept us busy with events in Sutherland, Windsor, Mittagong and Penrith. The Local Business Awards always feature entertainment and one of our favorites is Monique Montezwho recently presented her own cabaret show, The Real Thing, at the Seymour Centre as part of the Sydney Fringe Festival. In her show Monique opened up about the challenges she has faced during her career (including getting bumped from The Voice because she was too professional). Although confronting this show was very entertaining and I encourage readers to look out for a return season. Monique also has a number of corporate packages available which I can certainly recommend.
The Australian Event Awards dinner at the Caloundra Events Centre was a huge success and a huge night for us as well. We are now processing all the images and uploading to our galleries for you all to enjoy.
We will post an update when the editing is complete – in the meantime click through to the galleries and keep checking back as we continue the uploads over the next couple of days
Highlights of the month include The Star Sovereign Club annual dinner that featured a Phantom of the Opera themed show produced by Douglas Fabian Productions with performances by Motif Dance Productionsalong with Marina Prior and Mark Vincent (photos by Alicia and Mel)
The Local Business Awards continue to provide some classic moments. This month’s highlights included a marriage proposal onstage (brilliantly captured by Alicia) and the launch of a new talent unearthed by the awards founder Steve Loe – Alex Marcel is only 18 years old and is a talent to watch.
Andrew was on the red carpet to capture the winners of the Delicious Produce Awards in Melbourne.
Alicia captured all the action at the Modere event at Sydney’s Luna Park along with an IBM function at Cafe Sydney
Qantas celebrated 30 years of their Frequent Flyer program with a cocktail party at the MCA with a performance by Daryl Braithwaite that had the guests rocking.
The Australian Dental Industry Association launched their 2018 Expo at ICCSydney where our partner business supplied the Red Carpet and we also covered the ADIA WA Dental Show in Perth (shot by Nathan)

This year guests for SenseUs were instructed to arrive at BCEC (the location of last year’s event), from there they were transported by Murrays Coaches out to the semi-industrial suburb of Yeerongpilly. In a factory space in this suburb Raw Company have their dance studios and office. The Event Cartel turned this space into a fantastic pop up event space complete with bars and indoor and outdoor entertainment spaces.
On arrival guests were treated to pyros shooting off the roof of the building (by Fuse Pyrotechnics) and greeted by entertainers scooting around on segways or stilts.
Once inside the networking was punctuated by a variety of performances as guests partied into the night.
